Ganseyfest

International Gansey Seminar

1st and 2nd October 2011, Inverness

A celebration of our fishing heritage and ganseys - the beautifully crafted, patterned sweaters traditionally worn by fishermen. Hear about the women who knitted them, the men who wore them, and the creative ways in which traditional skills and patterns are being developed and applied in fashion today.

We have had superb speakers covering a whole range of interconnected topics, workshops to challenge and inspire, wonderful, interesting, enthusiastic delegates, traders with mouthwatering displays of yarn, a range of displays and demonstrations, and a large gansey exhibiton, plus a stunning fashion show, all in a superb venue with really helpful staff.  Our thanks to all those who helped to make this a successful weekend.
